Red titi monkeys like this one denverzoo are South American primates found in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. Active during the day, these monkeys spend most of their time in the trees of tropical forests, rarely descending to the forest floor. Early morning hours are reserved for intense feeding sessions which are followed by a period of midday rest, before feeding resumes again in the late afternoon. This species is not known for interacting with other primates, but they will occasionally be observed feeding in the same fruiting trees as marmosets and tamarins. Primary predators of the red titi monkey are birds of prey and cats. While larger primates in the region are a main source of food for local hunters, this species does not appear to be a target of human predation.
